On our first day in the mountains, we headed for Linville Caverns. Brian hadn't been since he was a kid, and the last time I went was during my first year teaching in Durham, so it had been a while. The boys were really excited about going into a cave and seeing bats (which they never did see). We got our tickets, browsed the shop, and then got in line.
Here is Collin, patiently waiting. . .

And once we got put into a group, we had to wait a bit more for a tour guide.

Here are some of the cooler rock formations within the cave, all of which were created by the water flow over the years.

This one looked like a giant booger. LOL

And, a group shot inside the cave. Jackson kept out tour guide pretty well entertained with his running commentary.

After the cavern, we headed up the Blue Ridge Parkway a bit to go on a short hike to see some of the Linville Waterfalls.
Here are my three explorers. . .

Collin, the ever willing model.

Jack, Collin & Daddy

All three boys with mama (and the ever growing baby belly)

The bigger of the falls that we saw

Collin, showing his true personality.

And Jack, who thought he saw a poisinous spider! I love the look on his face!
