Jackson is my non-traditional learner. He is very bodily-kinesthetic (sp?) and tactile, so learning his sight words has been a bit of a challenge. We have had success with a few things (flash cards with the words written in glue, making bean words, making words out of playdough, the Leap Frog Word Whammer, etc), but his teacher had this great (albeit messy) idea. We poured salt into a cookie sheet and he wrote the words in the salt. Sand, sugar, ect. would also work, but I had plenty of salt, so we went with that. Anyway, he was really proud. In the picture, you can see where he wrote "Jack."
